The LOSINJ 2008 will take place in hotel Vespera in Mali Losinj, on the island of Losinj, from 29th May till 1st June 2008.
The FIDE laws shall be used, seven rounds of the Swiss system. The playing time will be 90 minutes + 30 seconds per move. The standings will be determined by: greater number of points, better Median Buchholz, better Buchholz, progress, number of wins. The results shall be counted for both FIDE and Croatian rating list.
All chess players may take part in the competition.
Schedule:
Thursday, 29th May: 10 a.m. - Round 1, 4.30 p.m. - Round 2.
Friday, 30th May: 9.30 a.m. - Round 3, 4.30 p.m. - Round 4.
Saturday, 31st May: 9.30 a.m. - Round 5, 4.30 p.m. - Round 6.
Sunday, 1st June: 9.30 a.m. - Round 7, 1.30 p.m. - award ceremony.

Prices of Half Board per person per day:
- in double-bed room: 192,38 kn (park side), 222,38 kn (sea side),
- in single-bed room: 267,38 kn (park side), 297,38 kn (sea side).
Addition for Full Board: 68 kn. Sojourn tax: 7 kn per day, checking-in 7 kn.
Entry fee: 70 kn, for women and youth (those born in 1989 or later) 50 kn. GMs and IMs don't have to pay the entry fee.
Awards (12000 kn): 1st place: 4000 kn + trophy, 2nd place: 2500 kn, 3rd place: 1500 kn, 4th place: 1100 kn, 5th place: 800 kn, 6th place: 600 kn, 7th place: 400 kn. Special awards for the best female player (200 kn), juniors U-19 (200 kn, 100 kn), players with Elo 2001-2200 (200 kn, 100 kn), player with Elo >2000 or non-FIDE rated (200 kn), and best CC "Losinj" member (100 kn).
